Mississauga’s “Marilyn Monroe” condo building is gaining a companion.
Response to the launch of the 56-storey Absolute World 1 condominium, dubbed the Marilyn Monroe for its sensually curving shape, has prompted the addition of a second tower, with 50 storeys.
After the launch of the first tower, inquiries flooded in from 7,000 prospective buyers; 6,000 registered online and at the sales centre. Its 432 units are virtually sold out and the second 430-unit tower, launched last weekend, is 60 per cent sold, says Danny Salvatore, president of Fernbrook Homes.
The two towers “are Yansong Ma’s version of yin and yang,” says Salvatore. While the first condo tower has a distinctly feminine silhouettte, the second tower will be more rugged and will also have a twisting shape.
Ma says the towers will “talk to each other and harmonize with each other. There is a synergy between them, an aura which transcends each of the individual buildings to create a totally unique and original urban space.”
Prices start at $189,900 for a one-bedroom suite and range up to an average of $388,576 for a two-bedroom-plus-den unit. There are also penthouse suites.
All units will have deep, wraparound balconies and patio doors that offer access from all principal rooms. The floor-to-ceiling windows will offer views in almost a 180-degree arc.
Residents will have their own exclusive lounges: Club 50 for Absolute World 1 or Club 48 for Absolute World 2, complete with terrace on the top floors. The Absolute Club, a three-level, 30,000-square-foot recreational facility, will be the largest of its kind in Mississauga.
