An evening of art and Grand Marnier at Bohemian Embassy

December 11th, 2006

From the Condo Guide Magazine

The energy along Queen Street West was at a peak recently at Bohemian Embassy as representatives from Toronto’s art and film community gathered to sample a new way to enjoy Grand Marnier with a selection of tasty hors d’oeuvres. Over 150 connoisseurs tried the various blends of coffee, espresso and other concoctions with the favourite liqueur and viewed the superb art exhibit from a local artist now on display at Bohemian Embassy.

“This is just another way for those who love the excitement of downtown life to spend an interesting evening,” says Natascha Pieper, Sales and Marketing Manager for Baywood Homes. “We have done our best to create an environment that compliments the area and to bring events to Bohemian Embassy that have a broad appeal for the trendy, art-appreciating urbanites. This Grand Marnier tasting is just one of the eclectic happenings that we have planned over the next several months at Bohemian Embassy.”

Baywood Homes is contributing its version of cool on Queen Street West with Bohemian Embassy, a stylish condominium in the heart of the Toronto’s West Queen West Art & Design District on Queen Street at Gladstone, and just steps from that famous icon, the Drake Hotel.

This updated salute to urban lifestyle offers two buildings designed by award-winning architects, Page & Steele, with lobbies and amenities by the renowned II by IV Design Associates Inc.

“What we are creating is something quite out of the ordinary,” says Pieper. “The concept is to capture the spirit of a lifestyle that perfectly suits the ambience of Queen Street West.”

That spirit seems to have caught on with Torontonians as the presentation centre has been flooded with people yearning to be part of this hip milieu centred in the city’s cultural capital. Sales have been brisk, making it one of the fastest selling loft condominiums in downtown Toronto, especially among empty-nesters and young professional men and women, many from the area working in the downtown core.

“The Bohemian Embassy, as the name suggests, is a project which links the past with the future. It delivers a lifestyle very much in pace with what urban professionals and au courant empty nesters prize. It is downtown living with uptown style.”

The loft project is comprised of an eight-storey mid-rise facing Queen Street West that will have retail stores on the street level, residential suites and recreational amenities for the residents, plus a 19-storey tower tucked behind it where residents can enjoy a panoramic view of the city or the lake. There will be a small “grained” commercial component along Queen Street with individual storefronts and access where the sidewalk will be widened and fully landscaped with new trees. The site offers a real change of pace for those seeking to live in a creative neighbourhood.

A landscaped courtyard, lush with greenery, connects the structures, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Queen Street but visible as a quiet oasis through the arched gateway, a full 35 ft. in width inviting public access to the area.

The beautifully landscaped courtyard is just the visible signature of the pleasures that lie within. There is a men’s and women’s fitness centre and a multi-media lounge, perfect for entertaining guests. But there is also the unexpected, such as the rooftop Bohemian Embassy Sky Lounge with its upbeat outdoor patio. A great place to barbeque, sit around the fireplace, take in the sun or entertain friends and relatives.

“Bottom line, it is a great place to live and work,” says Pieper. “As neighbours you have the Drake Hotel, the Sandra Ainsley Gallery and many boutiques, cafés and nightspots. The Queen Street streetcar puts the subway and the rest of downtown just minutes from your doorstep. Best of all, Bohemian Embassy is affordable, priced to attract a mixture of residents, making Queen West a sought-after neighbourhood. “The Bohemian Embassy is a celebration of culture in the city.”
