Festival Tower condo buyers get film festival perks

Festival Tower condominium residents who live atop the future Festival Centre at King and John Sts. will have access to exclusive Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) packages and year-round events.

Residents will also be able to view pre-selected film packages compiled by Noah Cowan, co-director of the TIFF.

The Festival Centre, to be built at the northwest corner of King and John Sts., will be the TIFF’s new permanent home. It will feature five cinemas with state-of-the-art programming and acoustics. The condominium will have approximately 380 suites, ranging from 480 to more than 2,000 square feet.

Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects designed the building, while Mike Niven will be doing the interior design. Kirkor Architects and Planners are designing the suite layouts.

The Daniels Corp. is developing the project as a joint venture with the Reitman family, says Tom Dutton, senior vice-president with Daniels. Suite prices have not been finalized.

Residents will be able to watch events taking place at the Festival Centre on TV in their own condo, thanks to a camera feed to a dedicated TV channel for residents.

The Festival Tower will have its own screening room with seating for 60 people. “This screening room will be exclusively for residents,” says Dutton. “It will have full projection capabilities and surround sound.”

Dutton says that right now more than 150 people have joined the Inner Circle, paying $1,000, which will be applied against the purchase of a suite.
