Enjoying the VU - Aspen Ridge’s VU makes an impression in Old Town Toronto
From the Condo Guide Magazine
Diana Goodwin had been searching for her perfect condominium suite for at least a year when she first walked into the VU sales centre. She knew she wanted to move from renting to owning, and was searching for the condo of her dreams in a neighbourhood she loved.
Then she saw everything that VU had to offer. “When I walked in, the model suite was one of the first things I saw, and it was really impressive to me,” says Goodwin. “I liked the layout and the design. I liked the features.”
She also loved the Old Town Toronto neighbourhood that surrounds Aspen Ridge’s master-planned condominium community, with St. Lawrence Market close by and the subway, the waterfront and downtown – all easily accessible, and all of which have the first-time buyer excited about her future home. “That was one of the areas in which I really wanted to live,” she says.
Goodwin ended up purchasing a 715-sq.-ft., one-bedroom-plus-den nUloft suite on the eighth floor of the condominium community. The suite features a balcony and a range of spectacular finishes that include an optional platform bed with storage underneath, a special candle fireplace, plus a “hide and slide bathroom” with pocket doors that allow owners to privatize their shower or tub and one of their sinks. The nUlofts also feature 10-ft. ceilings, while traditional suites have nine-ft. ceilings.
“I was looking to see if I could find a unit that had a layout that I liked,” says Goodwin. “Ultimately, I found a great layout at a good price, at the square footage I was looking for – plus it came with a balcony, so it had everything I wanted.”
Featuring a contemporary glass design by Hariri Pontarini Architects, in partnership with Young and Wright Architects, VU features two towers connected by an eight-storey podium, encompassing an entire city block, along Adelaide from Jarvis to George, and north to Richmond. As well, 13 street-level townhouses will line George Street.
In addition to its spectacular location, the condominium community will feature a range of amenities exclusively for the use of residents and their guests. Club VU, located on top of the podium and approximately 14,500 sq. ft., will feature a landscaped lounge, lawn bowling, barbeque and bar area, and cabana. Two party rooms open onto Club VU and the rooftop gardens.
Other exciting amenities include a demo kitchen, caterer kitchen, lounge with a plasma TV, billiards and boardroom. Two fitness areas overlook the courtyard, while a 24-hour concierge situated in an all-glass pavilion greets residents in the lobby.
In the towers, the studio, one-bedroom, one-bedroom-plus-den, two-bedroom and two-bedroom-plus-den condos range from 500 to 1,300 sq. ft. The nUlofts range in size from 500 to 1,400 sq. ft. and the two-level townhouses are available at 1,300 or 1,400 sq. ft.
VU’s nUlofts, condos and townhouses are priced from the $170,000’s to the $700,000’s. Construction is scheduled to begin in March, 2007.
