Authentic Toronto Hard Loft Conversions Evening Telegram Lofts - 264 Seaton Street The Evening Telegram Lofts are what is known as hard, authenic or true lofts, as opposed to so-called soft lofts. Soft lofts are really just new condominiums with a few of the surface characteristics of a hard loft, like tall ceilings and open floor plans. Authentic hard lofts are conversions of old factories or warehouses featuring exposed pipes, heating ducts and brickwork, original wood posts, beams and floors and tall, unfinished ceilings. The Evening Telegram Lofts are in what was once home to the Toronto Evening Telegram, a newspaper that later became the Toronto Telegram. When The Tely folded in 1971, former staffers founded The Toronto Sun. The Evening Telegram Lofts building, constructed in the early 1930s, was turned into a 10-unit loft and features 14-foot ceilings, huge windows and private roof terraces. Some of the lofts have 9-by-7-foot skylights and 2-1/2 bathrooms. Separating the living room and the kitchen is a pair of impressive wooden doors with ornate knobs and locks that were once part of the Toronto Evening Telegram's front entrance. The Evening Telegram Lofts is a hard loft conversion and is located in south Cabbagetown on a lovely stretch of Seaton street. This boutique loft conversion has 10 units only. The lofts have private roof terraces or ground floor patios (rare to get outdoor space like this with hard lofts). There are large semi-circular windows in some units, but they all have high lofty ceilings. There is no onsite parking, but permit are available for the street. Email or phone 416-388-1960 today if this loft interests you.
