All Toronto Loft Conversions and Soft Lofts St. Clarens Lofts - 686-692 St. Clarens Avenue The St. Clarens Lofts are the kind of loft most people only dream about. Only 10 units in this hidden loft convrsion in Dufferin Grove. Some of the big ones range up to approximately 2,000 square feet, with tons of light-filled space, soaring ceilings and dramatic sight lines. Rarely does a unit become available in this unique & eclectic live/work loft conversion. Converted from an old factory in 1990, there is not a lot of information available on these hard lofts. These lofts are artists, film producers, musicians & entertainers dream. There are many trendy upscale conversions happening in the neighbourhood, which is becoming more and more popular. Some of the lofts have fireplaces, others have built-in bookshelves. Master bedrooms are on the uppr levels and have ensuites. There are private gardens and roof top decks (some with downtown views) depending on the unit. They are all multi-level lofts, with two or three bedrooms. Each loft provides for a unique living and working space set in the diverse neighbourhood of Lansdowne and Dupont. The area is set to explode in popularity with 3 more phases of The Foundry Lofts coming soon. Townhouses on the western edge of the old GE lands will add more value to the neighourhood. There are also new condos going up nearby, to the east of the Felim Court Lofts at 1444 Dupont. This is definitely an area to watch. The St. Clarens Lofts are bright hard lofts located in a 10-plex renovated, turn of the century kitchen factory. This building is one of the first true loft buildings in the city, inhabited by a friendly and talented artist community of writers, painters, architects and filmmakers. The property is gated and well kept, with surface parking on-site and street parking also available. Maintenance fees are fairly low for the size of the lofts, though utilities are extra and there are no amenities. Many neighbourhoods in the city are collections of streets in search of a centre. Dufferin Grove, with its eponymous 14-acre park, is an exception. The focal point of this very local-minded neighbourhood, the park raises the bar of community activism with a wide range of services and neighbourly camaraderie—including potluck suppers, year-round farmers' markets and a communal outdoor oven; there's even parkwide Wi-Fi for bench surfing. Dufferin Mall has gotten spiffier of late, adding bigger-name stores and renovating its exterior. In contrast to Dufferin's bustle, streets such as St. Clarens manage an impressive degree of serenity. The neighbourhood is fairly family-heavy with Portuguese still the dominant language on some streets. Brockton Village, which occupies the western half of this district, draws artists with its affordable prices. Email or phone 416-388-1960 today if this loft interests you.
