All Toronto Loft Conversions and Soft Lofts Tip Top Lofts - 637 Lakeshore Boulevard Located in western downtown Toronto, the Tip Top Lofts is one of Toronto's most prestigeous loft addresses, as well as being a historical landmark on Toronto's watererfont. Designed by Bishop and Miller architects in a classic Art Deco style, the building was completed in 1929 and housed the manufacturing, warehousing, retail and office operations of Tip Top Tailors Ltd., a menswear cloting retailer founded in 1910 by Polish immigrant David Dunkelman. The five-storey U-shaped structure featured expansive windows to bring natural light into the working areas of the factory. This was a wonderful feature when creating the loft spaces. The stretch of blank facade above the fifth storey, initially built to support the rooftop sign, was completely enclosed as a sixth storey in 1951. The Tip Top Tailors Building was listed as a Toronto Heritage property in 1972. The Tip Top Tailors Building was the most elegant industrial structure built in Toronto in the 1920s. It incorporates all the key elements of Art Deco design, including a symmetrical facade, strong vertical lines, multiple wall planes at the corners, an elegant two-storey front entrance with articulated brass doors, and numerous examples of geometric and figurative decoration. Converted to lofts and completed in 2006 - including the 6 storey rooftop addition - the Tip Top Lofts features 256 units ranging in size from 600 to 2,580 square feet with over 50 unique floorplans. Penthouse units are two level suites. Standing at 637 Lake Shore Boulevard West is one of Toronto's true tributes to innovation, renovation, and high-class living, the Tip Top Lofts. The exclusive lofts that are part of this building's appeal are unique in several aspects in comparison to other Toronto lofts. They are located right on Lake Ontario next to the Martin Goodman Waterfront Park and trail system, as well as all of the excitement of the Toronto waterfront. The building is within walking distance to Ontario Place, a quick ferry ride to Toronto Island and only a few minutes to the entertainment district or financial core. The lofts themselves are also unique; two stories high on average, they are spacious and comfortable with a soft loft appeal. There's no doubt that many aspects of the modern Tip Top Loft building are unique, but the heart of the building reaches right to the very foundation of the building itself. The Tip Top Lofts is not just a testament to the luxury of high-class living, but also to the innovation and ingenuity that keep the city of Toronto in the limelight as one of the most cutting edge locations in North America. It is one of the historic buildings in the city that enjoys a long history and a place in the cultural and commercial history of the city.
