2 Ossington Lofts - 2 Ossington Avenue
The 2 Ossington Lofts are being developed by NDS Developments and designed by SMV Architects. It is a new and unique boutique loft building staying true to its West Queen West roots by keeping small and intimate at the heart of this ever-changing area.
The location is a prime one, with amenities in every direction, including numerous shops and services, the Drake and Gladstone hotels and Trinity Bellwoods Park. Public transit is also easily accessible. The building has been designed with the environment in mind, cultivating many green features and using the latest in construction material and technology to speed up construction time and increase energy efficiency.
2 Ossington Lofts is a small project, housing only 18 new soft loft units, nine of which are 2-story lofts, and nine 1-story lofts. Common areas are kept to minimum to reduce maintenance fees, and retail space at grade gives the building life and color.
The top two floors of 2 Ossington Lofts will contain nine units, ranging from 900 to 1,156 square feet. Each will have a two-storey plan with a large terrace off the master suite. To cater to first-time buyers, the builder is offering nine suites on the second floor between 416 and just under 700 square feet.
Standard features include nine-foot ceilings, expansive windows and stainless-steel appliances, as well as European kitchens and designer bathrooms. Monthly fees likely will be somewhere between 40 and 45 cents a square foot — relatively low as there are no recreational amenities to maintain.
2 Ossington Lofts is well positioned become a cornerstone of the newly rejuvenating West Queen West area. The West Queen West district has a mix of galleries, restaurants and bars that continues to lure residential developments and more businesses to the neighbourhood.
Since construction has yet to begin (as of June 2009), completion and occupancy is anyone's guess.
